Bill Marmagas

Bill Marmagas is a senior systems administrator for the VT-ARC systems. He has administered a variety of UNIX and Linux operating systems since 1993. He has worked with hardware platforms ranging from the small to the very large. He specializes in high availability, SAN storage, and systems and network management. He joined Virginia Tech in 2006.

Bill received his bachelor's degree from Virginia Tech and his master's degree from Georgia Tech. He has presented high availability case studies and taught systems and network management at national and regional conferences. His industry experience includes membership, healthcare, e-commerce, ISP hosting centers, managed web services, and telecommunications. He has worked for enterprises both small and global, and within datacenters ranging from hundreds to tens of thousands of square feet. His professional contributions have ranged from the direct administration of dozens of servers, to supporting the management of multiple data centers and hundreds of servers, to the development of the centralized monitoring of the call processing facilities of a multi-billion dollar enterprise.
