Tuning a VT-Rnet Connection

Operating systems need to have send and receive buffers of sufficient size in order for TCP connections to perform well. The default tuning is likely sufficient for any host on the VT-Rnet that talks to another host at Virginia Tech, including the ARC resources.

If the bandwidth obtained on the VT-Rnet testing page are well over 1 Gbps, it is likely that the defaults are sufficient. If not, please visit the host tuning page on the ESnet web site, open source tools, Microsoft Performance Tuning tool, or submit a help ticket.
